Traveling to Harlem with a headache caused by turnoveritis in preceding games dominated by the Bucs in most other competitive facets and facing another tall and long blue-chipper in 6’6″ senior Allen White III, Belvidere took care of the rock while Harlem did not and went home with a convincing 55-40 win.

After leading 21-18 at intermission, the Bucs outscored the hosts 18-8 in the third quarter and never looked back with tenacious defense and judiciously high-percentage shot selections.

White did not disappoint fans, recruiters, or prognosticators as he scored almost half of Harlem’s total (19) before fouling out in the closing minutes of the game after battling senior rebounding vacuum Xavier Dent throughout the night for control of the paint and boards.  The edge went to Dent who played much bigger than his 6’1″ and finished with 10 points.

Senior Austin Revolinski, who is often checked closer by officials than opponents, led Belvidere with 18 points that included two three-pointers.

Senior Will Morris steadily continued and steely played with a three-pointer and iced 8-9 from the charity stripe for 10 points.

Senior Joey Hernandez, poised for major offensive contributions, was perfect from the line and added another three-pointer for his nine points.

Senior Nate Horton (four) and juniors Shawn Dean (two) and Phil Kolk (two) completed scoring for the Bucs.

Belvidere stayed on the road with a visit to Guilford on Wednesday, Dec. 14.  Though inexperienced and struggling early in the season, the Vikings have added coaching wizard Darrin Sisk to the staff with a reputation for startling upsets despite thin rosters.Varsity action followed the sophomore game at 5 p.m.
