As newly elected Roscoe Township Supervisor Jim Benkovich described the results of the April 4, election, “It’s a new day at the Township.” Benkovich won against incumbent Steve Connell, receiving 63 percent of the vote.
Benkovich and the Clean Slate candidates won all of the remaining seats with the exception of Elizabeth Ann Lindquist who ran for trustee as an Independent candidate. Write-in candidate Cindy Servant was elected Township Assessor.
Benkovich said he credits the Clean Slate’s win to working as a team. “It’s a diverse slate. I am looking forward to working with them. We will make sure our meetings are open and welcoming to everyone.”
The Roscoe Township annual meeting will be held at the Township Hall, April 11, at 7 pm. The meeting is open to the public.
The newly elected Supervisor, Clerk, Assessor and Trustees will be sworn in at the regular Township meeting, April 15, at 7 pm. Benkovich said the board will begin making changes immediately.
One of the first items on their agenda will be to clean up and improve maintenance on the Stone Bridge Trail. He said the Township will be working in partnership with the Natural Land Institute to implement environmental plans including repairs to the “cow tunnels” under the bridge.
