Umbrellas and rain gear dotted the Memorial Day parade route in Roscoe on Monday, May 27. Despite the unwelcome weather, many patriotic residents and their families turned out to honor the sacrifices of area veterans.
Led by the VFW Post 2955 Color Guard, village dignitaries, scout troops, the Harlem Roscoe FD, and the Roscoe Middle School Marching Band made their way up Main St. to Broadway to the Roscoe Cemetery where VFW representatives held a memorial ceremony.
Following words from VFW personnel, a wreath and flowers were placed on the symbolic grave of the Unknown Soldier. VFW Color Guard members fired a 3 -gun salute as the Roscoe Middle School band performed and played taps.
