Pecatonica man charged with first degree murder

Authorities were called to this home located at 333 East Seventh Street in Pecatonica for a disturbance around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12. Upon arrival, 52-year old Scott A. Rocen was found deceased. It was later determined he died of multiple stab wounds. David W. Baldwin, 52, faces two counts of first-degree murder for the stabbing death.
On Thursday, Sept 12 at approximately 9:30 p.m., Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Officers from the Illinois State Police, Village of Winnebago Police along with Durand Police responded to a call of a disturbance at a residence in the 300 Block of East 7th St in Pecatonica, Ill.
Upon arrival, a male subject was located in the residence deceased.
Winnebago County Sheriff’s Police detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the scene. The incident is being handled as a Homicide Investigation at this time, which is ongoing.
On Friday, Sept. 13, the Winnebago County Coroner, Bill Hintz conducted an autopsy and reported that the victim, who was identified as Scott A. Rocen, 52, died of multiple stab wounds.
Winnebago County Sheriff’s Detectives identified a suspect, reviewed the case with the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office and arrested the following person:
David W. Baldwin Dob, 53, of Pecatonica
First Degree Murder (2 Counts)
Baldwin was arrested the night of the incident and lodged in the Winnebago County Jail on an unrelated arrest warrant out of Wisconsin.
The charges against Baldwin are merely accusations and he is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
