The Downtown Façade Improvement Program was approved on May 6, 2019 per Resolution 2097-2019. The grant is designed to enhance the overall appearance and image of Belvidere’s Downtown Historic Districts. The City of Belvidere will provide matching grants to encourage façade improvements of storefronts in the downtown area. Under the program, building/business owners are eligible for up to the lesser of 50 percent of the actual façade improvement costs, or the maximum amount allowed by the Belvidere City Council ($5000-$7500). If more applications are received than current funds will allow, the City reserves the right to prioritize the applications or prorate the funds awarded on the basis of location of the project, the extent of the work, the level of funding, and the relative impact of the proposed improvements on the area. This year, the City Council approved $27,256 in grant applications.

The Belvidere Historic Preservation Commission would like to thank the Boone County Museum of History for allowing the use of the Funderburg House for this event, the Hidden Aerie for providing food and
beverages, and Sweet Magnolia’s Kitchen for providing desserts. The Commission also appreciates the sponsors for the Achievement Awards ad their contributions to the community.
