Belvidere North boy’s golf defeats Boylan
POPLAR GROVE– The Belvidere North High School boy’s golf team defeated Boylan in an incredibly close game at home at Timber Pointe Golf Club in Poplar Grove at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26. Belvidere ended up winning by two points in a total of 164 to 166.
Belvidere North had good performances from their top four players, Cam Batson who scored a 39, Adam Veruchi with a 41, and Garrett Nelson and Jake Dykstra both scoring a 42.
The team also had great performances from Josh Cassaro who scored a 44 and Tony Lazzerini who ended with a 46.
Boylan High School came close with their four lowest scoring players only being two points off of Belvidere North’s total.
Engelbrecht, Clemons, and Lunnons, all tied for first for their team with scores of 41 and Richards came in next with a total of 43 making their total 166 points.
Their teammates weren’t far behind with Cepeda and Ambrose both scoring a 47.
In the end, the scores weren’t enough to take the victory away from Belvidere North Blue Thunder.
