Pec Lions Club planning Memorial Day service
On Monday, May 27, the Pecatonica Lions Club will continue the tradition of a community Memorial Day Service and Dedication Program.
The event began in 1991 under the supervision of Ken Countryman of Countryman Funeral Home.
Upon Countryman’s retirement in 2002, the Lions Club continued the service and is in the process of finalizing the plans for this year’s event. This year’s program will be held in Sumner Park at 10 a.m.
Names of individuals from the Pecatonica community that have passed away in 2023 will be included in this year’s program. Contact Fred Nestler by calling 779-770-5179 to have names included in the program that may not have been listed in local obituaries.
If anyone is interested in purchasing a memorial brick or plaque dedicated to a loved one, forms are available at the Pecatonica Pharmacy and at the Pecatonica Library. A form can also be obtained by contacting Marci Nestler at 815-343-3242.
As has been done in the past, the program will also include a veteran’s program presented by the local American Legion Post.
