The Harlem girls bowling team won their fifth national title Leisure Lanes this past weekend for the U.S. High School Bowling National Championship, which included teams from 25 states.

The Harlem girls bowling team won its fifth national title in dominating fashion.

The Huskies traveled to Leisure Lanes this past weekend for the U.S. High School Bowling National Championship, which included teams from 25 states.

Harlem had the top score in the qualifying round that cut it to 16 teams Saturday morning. The Huskies had the top score in the first survivor round that cut it to eight. The Huskies built enough of an advantage to make it through an average third survivor round.

Harlem ended up facing Team Hardin County of Tennessee in the championship match and rolled to a 565-522 win.

The event was first held in 2016. Harlem won in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2022 and the event wasn’t held in 2020. Harlem finished fifth in the IHSA tournament. Joliet West, which won the IHSA title, did not compete in Lancaster. Hononegah finished seventh overall.

The eight Huskies making the trip to Pennsylvania were Alexis Born, Hannah Herdklotz, Miranda Klenz, Ashlin Teves, Allison Roberts, Addison Brien, Riley Gilbert and Athena O’Dell.
