The Machesney Park village trustees met Dec. 2.

Village Management Analyst Kevyn Sutter explained that the board passed various variances for building sizes, driveway widths, height regulations, sign heights, and industrial design standards, various special use permits for public utilities and outdoor storage and two text amendment ordinances: to the zoning code, amending commercial design standards, building form and layout, to add drive-thru “bypass lane requirements,” and one to the zoning code, “amending commercial design standards, building form and layout, and also “to add drive thru bypass lane requirements.”

Approved items included:

• A resolution for a variance for driveway width at 810 Otto Road.

• An ordinance for a variance, final reading, from “Accessory Building Size Regulations” at 825 Drexel Blvd.

• An ordinance, final reading, for a special use permit for a Public Utility in the Single-Family Residential (R1) District, at 8702 Ruby Ln.

• An ordinance for a variance from Building Height Regulations in the Single-Family

Residential (R1) District at 8702 Ruby Lane, also a final reading.

• An ordinance, final reading, for a variance from Freestanding Sign Height and Area Regulations at 7005 N. Perryville Road.

• An ordinance for a variance in Total Sign Area, 7005 N. Perryville Road, final reading.

• An ordinance, final reading, for a Special Use Permit for Outdoor Storage in the General Industrial (IG) District, at 10853 N. Second St.

• An ordinance, final reading, for a variance from Industrial Design Standards in the Light Industrial (IL) District at 1128 Old Ralston Road.

• An ordinance, final reading, for a Special Use Permit for Outdoor Storage in the Light Industrial (IL) District at 1209 Shappert Dr.

• An ordinance, final reading for a Text Amendment to the Zoning Code, “Amending Commercial Design Standards, Building Form and Layout,” and to add a “Drive-Thru Bypass Lane Requirement.”

• An ordinance, final reading, for a Text Amendment to the Zoning Code, “Clarifying Reference to

Regulations for Residential Multifamily Development.

In closing the meeting, as always the case, President Johnson reminded village residents of “the importance to the community to shop and eat in the village!”
