Stenstrom Excavation gets okay to due water main break repairs

LOVES PARK – At the Aug. 24 Loves Park City Council meeting aldermen approved a resolution authorizing a contract to Stenstrom Excavation Blacktop of Rockford for asphalt paving repairs on city streets due to water main breaks. Stenstrom was the lowest bidder at a cost not to exceed $75,000.
One ordinance, first reading, was also passed authorizing the issuance from “time to time in one or more series of up to $2.5 million dollars of Tax Increment Allocation Notes (Spring Creek Lakes Redevelopment Project Area), Taxable Series 2015 of the City of Loves Park.”
Alderman Clint Little gave the weekly police activity report for the week of Aug. 16-22. A total of 527 calls for service were logged, 343 arrests, and seven accidents. On the weekly fire department report dated Aug. 23, one fire call, two false fire alarm calls, one rescue call, two mutual aid calls, one carbon monoxide or gas leak call, one wires down call, and three smoke or odor investigation calls were reported.
Aldermen approved payment of $106,693.70 in water department bills, and $135,623.70 in general fund and all other bills, as presented Aug. 17.
Prior to the close of the meeting the council went into executive session to discuss Sand Park litigation.
