At the May 5 board of trustees meeting, swearing in ceremonies for newly elected or reelected officials:  Mayor Steve Johnson, 3rd term, Clerk Chris Galetsis, Treasurer Deb Alms, 3rd term, Trustee Aaron Wilson, 4th term, Trustee Joe Seipts, 3rd term, and Trustee Neil Rote were held.

After the oath of office ceremony, Johnson congratulated all the elected officials and as expressed by the mayor, “I’m looking forward in working together as a board for the good of the village in the upcoming years!”

In other business, under the Mayor’s Report, Mayor Johnson noted, “First this evening our condolences go out to the family of Gary Jury, Harlem Township Supervisor,” and board members then held a moment of silence in memory of Gary Jury.

*Village officials are currently looking for families to participate in the Military Banner Program that recognizes selfless individuals that are currently serving or have served in the United States Armed Forces, up to 16 honorary banners will be displayed in the median on N 2nd St. Per the mayor, “To participate in this program please contact the Village or the mayor and supply a digital format photo of the honoree in an official military uniform. Please let’s honor our local hero’s and fill all 16 spots on N. 2nd St.”

Newly elected officials were sworn in at the board meeting May 5, which also included some new faces to the Village Board such as Christopher Galetsis (the new Village Clerk) and Neil Rote as District 3 trustee. Mayor Johnson, Treasurer Deb Alms, Trustee Aaron Wilson, and Trustee Joe Seipts were also sworn in after their successful reelection.

*Adopted Ordinance 08-25, Amending Chapter 4, Alcoholic Liquor code to allow for a Class CT (caterer’s license) license

*Adopted Ordinance 09-25, Disposal of Personal Property. As noted, “These were outdated tech items like outdated computers, phones, and radios.”

*Adopted Ordinance 10-25, Adopting Current Building Codes, Chapter 8, Section I-XIV.

*Adopted Resolution 25-R-25, Variance for driveway width at 1221 Summerland Key.

Finally, as is always the case, Mayor Johnson reminds everyone how important it is to “shop locally for it helps our local businesses/community year ‘round.”
