Aldermen at the June 2 bi-monthly Loves Park City Council meeting approved…and also announced a number of items:

*An announcement was made that “The Lights and Ladders” event was to be held June 5 on the City Hall Festival Grounds from 6 to 8 p.m.
*An announcement was made that a ribbon cutting is set for June 16, 1:30 p.m. for Bufalo Laundromat.

–Items approved:

*A resolution was approved to accept new terms for the following persons: Conrad Lantz on the Police Pension Board, Catherine Nelson and Nathan Kutz on the Zoning Board of Appeals.

*A resolution was passed dedicating certain property of the City of Loves Park within the “N. 2nd St. Redevelopment Project Area,” to become part of the right-of-way of Loves Park.

–Ordinances approved:

*An ordinance authorizing the mayor to sign the “North Second Streetscape Agreement” (Tax Increment Finance “TIF” District) passed.

*An ordinance requesting approval for a Class D liquor license for 1550 E Riverside Blvd. was approved. As noted in a communication from Sheng Wang Lin, the owner of Super Bowl Mongolian Grill & Sushi, “Super Bowl Mongolian Grill & Sushi is a full service restaurant specializing in Mongolian grill cuisine and Japanese sushi, offering guests a unique and diverse dining experience. “We aim to provide a warm, welcoming atmosphere where patrons can enjoy high-quality food, attentive service, and a comfortable setting for both families and individuals.”

*An ordinance requesting approval for a Special Use Permit to have a food market at 5723 N. 2nd St. passed

*An ordinance requesting approval for a Special Use Permit to have a dog grooming salon at 340 E Riverside Blvd. was okayed.

–Per the bi-monthly police activity report from May 4 to 17, a total of 1,106 calls were received, 38 arrests were made, 306 tickets and warnings were issued, and 34 vehicle crashes were responded to by officers.

Per the bi-monthly fire department report between May 15 and 28, 131 EMS incidents were handled, 13 service calls were received, three fires were responded to, and “all other type” calls totaled 25 for a total of 172 calls for service.

The street department report covering May 12 through 26 noted that workers continued tree stump removals, street sweeps, shop work and city vehicle maintenance, and continued mowing all city maintained areas. Proposed work: continue mowing all city-maintained areas, work on tree stump removals, begin road crack filling, and also roadside mowing.

The water department was also busy from May 12 to 26 completed various duties: appointments were scheduled, JULIE locates were done, as was hydrant repair and maintenance and equipment maintenance, meter installations on new construction, mowing duties, training on risk management, along with other assignments.
