Belvidere Bucs boys’ soccer team defeats Belvidere North Blue Thunder
BELVIDERE – The Belvidere High School Bucs boys’ varsity soccer team defeated Belvidere North High School on North’s turf on Thursday, Sept. 3. The Belvidere Bucs won by one point in and end match score of 3-2.
Belvidere Bucs took the lead in the first period with Juan Resendiz scoring the first goal with an assist from teammate David Rivera.
However, in period two, Belvidere North was set on making a comeback victory scoring the next two goals.
Luis Garcia made the second goal in the second period, putting North ahead 2-1.
Belvidere High School came back for the win, scoring the last two goals of the game in the second period.
Jose Mancillas from the Bucs, made the first of the two goals, followed quickly by Saul Vilchis.
In all, the home team, Belvidere North made a total of six attempts at the goal, with three of them being stopped by Belvidere High School goalie Edgar Gomez and the Belvidere Bucs made 12 goal attempts with three making it, one being saved by Belvidere North goalie James Gorden, and eight of them veering past the goal.
All in all, the Belvidere Bucs took home the victory in a nail-biter game between hometown rivals: The Belvidere Bucs and the Belvidere North Blue Thunder.
