Rockford Memorial Hospital hosts reunion for NICU patients
STATELINE – Rockford Memorial Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) will host its annual reunion. All NICU graduates and their family are invited to attend.
Newborn babies who need intensive medical attention are often admitted into a special area of the hospital called the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The NICU combines advanced technology and trained healthcare professionals to provide specialized care for the tiniest patients.
Rockford Memorial Hospital has the region’s only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the highest rating available. The unit provides care for premature, critically ill and injured newborns from throughout the region.
Our 46-bed NICU is staffed by a multidisciplinary care team of physicians, registered nurses, respiratory therapists, neonatal nurse practitioners, pediatric therapy services, and consulting physicians. All have extensive training in the care of premature and ill infants.
In addition, dedicated NICU staff provide neonatal transport services for infants requiring transfer.
On Saturday, Sept. 19, form 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Rockford Memorial Hospital Café 2400 (hospital cafeteria) located at 2400 Rockton Ave. in Rockford, will host the reunion.
Many NICU patients spend several days to several weeks in the unit. The reunion offers graduates of the NICU and their families a chance to reconnect with the medical staff that provided their care.
