Belvidere boys’ soccer team defeats Hononegah
ROCKTON – In an away game set at Hononegah High School in Rockton, the Belvidere High School boys’ soccer team beat Hononegah. The game set on Thursday, Sept. 24 ended with Belvidere winning 4-0.
In the shutout game, Belvidere quickly took the lead and kept it with Juan Resendiz scoring first in the first period with an assist from Saul Vilichis.
Also scoring in the first were Donies Rexes and Danny Ponce with an assist from Juan Resendiz.
In the second period, Belvidere scored their final goal with Benji Delgado making the goal off an assist from Juan Resendiz. The visiting team took a whopping 19 shots, but Belvidere goalie Edgar Gomez didn’t let a single one past. He saved three from entering the goal, while the others missed entirely.
Belvidere made four goals, four attempts, and six that were blocked by Hononegah goalie, Rivers.
With the big win, Belvidere’s record went to 10-3-1.
