PECATONICA – What a special day we had at school on Wednesday, Sept. 30! We all dressed for success and two local television stations were here to cover our celebratory dance assembly. The students all sang our traditional “THANK YOU” song to the teachers and staff of Pecatonica Elementary School and danced around in the gym to celebrate! Every child got “Smarties” candies because that’s what they all are! Thanks to Jim at Topway Foods for his support!
The Blue Ribbon Award, which began in 1982, has only ever recognized two Winnebago County schools, one other elementary school and a private high school. The rest of the awards have been throughout other parts of the state. This year 15 schools were nominated across the state of Illinois, and 13 received an award in one of the above categories.
