ROCK ISLAND— Augustana picked up a non-conference win and a tie within the CCIW the past week, defeating Aurora 2-0 on Tuesday, Oct. 13 before ending up deadlocked 0-0 at Carthage on Saturday, Oct. 17.

Coach Scott Mejia’s squad is now 11- 3-1 this season and 1-1-1 in the league.

The team’s next victory will mark Mejia’s 200th win as the women’s head coach at Augustana. Senior Meredith Chew of Paradise Valley High School in Phoenix, Ariz. recorded her fifth and sixth solo shutouts of the year this past week and her third and fourth in a row. She has not been scored upon in her last 435 minutes in goal.

On the year, Chew is 11-3-1 with a 0.80 goals against average and a save percentage of .828. Augustana’s defense, which is unscored upon in the last four matches, has been anchored for most of the year by a back line of senior Stef Hamaker of Boylan Catholic High School, from Caledonia, Ill., junior Bri Frys of Fremd High School in Palatine, Ill., sophomore Sammi Farkos of Homewood-Flossmoor High School in Flossmooor, Ill., and freshman Abby Wendell of Hersey High School in Arlington Heights, Ill.

On offense, senior Kelly Farell of St. Ursula Academy in Sylvania, Ohio, has team highs of 12 goals and 28 points. Frys is the team leader with eight assists—tied for fourth-most ever in a season for the Vikings.
