Mama Rose, the quintessential stage mother, is determined that her younger daughter June will have a successful vaudeville career. But times are changing and after June elopes, Mama turns her attention to her older daughter, Louise. The rise of burlesque is upon them and nothing will ever be the same again for Madame Rose. MCC Job Fair will be at 10 a.m. at McHenry County College in the Multi-purpose room in Building A, located at 8900 U.S. Hwy. 14 in Crystal Lake. The McHenry County College job fair is a key component of MCC’s commitment to meet our community’s educational and workforce needs. The fair will be open to MCC students and community residents and is expected to draw a wide range of job seekers, including students for seasonal employment and seasoned professionals looking for career opportunities. Halloween Handout will be at 3 p.m. in Downtown Crystal Lake. A favorite among young children! Participating merchants throughout Downtown Crystal Lake open their doors to invite costumed children 12 and under to receive a treat. Participating merchants will have an orange “Halloween Handout” Pumpkin Flyer on their window.

Meet the Author: Aaron Reynolds at 11 a.m. at Read Between The Lynes, 111 E. Van Buren Street, Woodstock. Join us on Halloween for a special Creepy Carrots! Reading with the one and only Aaron Reynolds. Make your own creepy carrot or take a photo in our Creepy Carrots! Photo booth. Joe Diamond: Paranormal will be at 7:30 p.m. at ‘The Listening Room’. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
Party at the Plaza will be from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Halloween at the Crystal Lake Plaza/ Achieve Footwear, 6500 Northwest Highway. The free event will feature activities for adults and children, including a fun house, pumpkin decorating, petting zoo, face painting, trick-or-treating, touch-a-truck, hot apple cider and more!

Children’s Story time will be from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. at Prairieview Education Center, Room 210, Crystal Lake. Enhance your sense of wonder by introducing fiction into your nature experience. Enjoy part of your Sunday afternoon listening to a story, taking an exploratory hike, and making a craft to take home based on the story. A different story will be read at each session.

Ladies Night Out will be from 6 – 9 p.m. at Miss Kitty’s Saloon and Town of Marengo, 1101 E. Grant Highway, Marengo. Ladies, grab your friends, family, neighbors and come to Marengo for Ladies Night Out. Fun for all, including shopping, refreshments, giveaways, raffle and door prizes galore!
