I.O.U. hosts annual Halloween Parade
BELVIDERE – The I.O.U. Halloween Parade will be at 7 p.m. rain or shine on Friday, Oct. 30. Floats must be at the ensemble at 6 p.m. on North State Street between Perry and Boone, facing south for judging.
The parade will go from North State Street and Boone Street area and continue south across town and end at the Community Building Parking lot where refreshments will be served. There is no entry fee.
Cash prizes will be available. The most original float will receive $100, followed by second place with $75, and third place for $50.
The Float Runner-ups will receive $25 each. There will be three winners in this category.
The best group costume winners will receive $35, followed by second place receiving $20, and third place receiving $15.
The best humorous costume will receive $20 for first place, $15 for second, and $10 for third.
The best scary costume will receive $20 for first place, $15 for second place, and $10 for third place.
The best famous person costume will receive $20 for first place, $15 for second, and $10 for third.
There will also be 30, $5 special awards.
Throwing candy from vehicles is prohibited. Candy may be passed out by walking individuals. No business advertising, political floats or politicking allowed.
