Cristian A. Roman mugshotBELVIDERE – On Thursday, Dec. 4, a two month investigation by the Belvidere/Boone County Metro Narcotics Unit, resulted in the arrest of a Belvidere Resident on felony drug charges.

Cristian A. Roman, 28, of Belvidere, was charged with three counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance (cocaine) within 1,000 feet of a church – (two Class X Felonies / one Class One Felony). Roman remains in the custody of the Boone County Jail with no bond.

On Thursday, Dec. 4, the Belvidere/Boone County Metro Narcotics Unit and the United States Drug Administration (DEA) Task Force, assisted by Belvidere Police Officers/K-9 Unit, executed a search warrant in the 100 block of E. Macomb St. in Belvidere.

Detectives arrested Roman on three counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance (cocaine) within 1,000 feet of a church. The investigation resulted in the seizure of a controlled substance (cocaine), a scale, and U.S. currency.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible. Each Class X Felony is punishable by six to 30 years in the Department of Corrections. A Class One Felony is punishable by four to 15 years in the Department of Corrections.
