Unbeaten Belvidere North, Harlem girls to meet in bowling

BOONE COUNTY – After three games in NIC-10 girls’ varsity bowling action, Belvidere North and Harlem were the only undefeated teams, and tied for first place with 3-0 records.
They will put those records on the line today (Tuesday, Dec. 15) with the Lady Blue Thunder traveling to Forest Hills Lanes in Loves Park to battle the host Lady Huskies. Match time is 4 p.m.
Also today, North’s boys (2-1) will be in Loves Park to take on Harlem (3-0) in another of the marquee matches before Christmas break.
Belvidere’s boys (1-2) and girls (2-1) were home Monday night against Hononegah. Results were not available at press-time.
The Lady Blue Thunder scored a workmanlike win over Auburn, 3,132 pins to 1,945. Their balanced offfense was led by Ashley Platt with a three-game 594 series. Annissa Hintt followed with a 585; Kylie Johnson had a 562; Brynn Lambrecht, a 486; and Kaitlynn Trimble, a 443.
Marian Anderson came up from the junior varsity squad and contributed a 452 series.
Auburn’s boys remained unbeaten, upsetting Belvidere North by 77 pins, 3,772 to 3,695. The Knights won three close games with the biggest difference being 34 pins.
Jordan Paulson and Javier Martinez led the Blue Thunder with personal best series. Paulson fired a 668 while Martinez turned in a 661. Their high games remained 257 and 232, respectively.
Another 600-plus series
David Rayphole recorded his third consecutive 600-plus series with a 625. Garrett Nelson had a 585 with the rest of the games divided among Josh Pawlowski (416)), Logan Blankenship (397) and Peyton Lutzow (343).
Belvidere split its games against Jefferson with the girls winning, 3,126 to 2,815 and the boys losing, 3,428 to 3,335.
Hannah Lowery paced the Lady Bucs with personal bests in series (613) and high game (231). Madelyn Deardorff also had a double with a new high series of 492 and high single game of 168. And Alexis Sherman turned in a personal best series with a 484.
Also for Belvidere, Holley Steelberg had a 612 series; Sara Deddo, a 507; and Hailey Carter, a 421.
Larry Tripamer had a 595 series to led the Bucs, followed closely by Joe Gallagher and Zach Brawner with a pair of 594s. Ben Deardorff turned in a 551; Kevin Jenks, a 529; and Brock Irwin, a 472.
Brawner’s 594 series was a personal best, as was high 223 single game. Tripamer’s 595 was a new high for him, for the season.
In junior varsity play Belvidere North’s girls and Harlem are the only undefeated teams and tied for first place with 3-0 records. The Lady Blue Thunder will join the varsity against Harlem today in Loves Park. Belvidere’s Lady Bucs are next, with a 2-1 record.
Boys standings had not been updated at press-time. Belvidere North previously was 2-0 and in a four-way tie for first place while Belvidere was 1-1.
Tournament competition
In recent tournament competition Belvidere’s girls finished fourth at the Jefferson Invite, with Belvidere North in fifth.
Platt was second individually with a 275 high game, while Deddo was seventh with a 243 and Steelberg, ninth with a
241.
In junior varsity play, North’s Sidney Baird had a 477 series, averaging 159 per game, which was good for 12th place. Freshman Elyce Turnipseed of Belvidere was 24th with a 421 series and 143 average.
Baird’s 192 high game was good for 14th; Turnipseed’s 166 put her in 20th place.
