BELVIDERE – On Thursday, Jan. 14, Belvidere High School hosted the NIC-10 Conference Competitive Dance competition.

Ten teams competed for the top spot, but only one could come out on top. For the competitive dance competition, that team was Boylan Catholic High School.

Boylan Catholic High School came in first with an overall score of 85.57.

Coming in second was Harlem High School with an overall score of 83 points.

In third place were the Hononegah Indians with a raw score of 82.10 that dropped to 81.10 after the judges took a point away in deductions.

The fourth place recipient was Auburn High School’s competitive dance team who came out with a raw score of 78.27 that dropped to 77.27 after the judges deducted a point from their score.

In fifth place were the Freeport Pretzels with an overall score of 76.30 points.

Representing Belvidere proudly were the sixth place winners, the members of the Belvidere North High School competitive dance team. Belvidere North High School finished with an overall score of 74.03 points.

In seventh place was Rockford East High School who finished with an overall score of 73.80 points.

Taking the eighth place spot, representing Belvidere, was Belvidere High School with an overall score of 73.67. They were a mere .13 points away from seventh place, to neighbor Belvidere North in the standings.

In ninth place was Guilford High School with an overall score of 72.47 points.

In last place, in tenth, was Jefferson High School with an overall score of 69.90 points.
