Seward Park District honors Barbara Hazzard with Volunteer of the Year Award
SEWARD – The Seward Park District is proud to announce that Barbara Hazzard has been honored with the first annual Seward Park District Volunteer of the Year Award. She was given the award during the Seward Park District’s January board meeting on January 19. The Volunteer of the Year Award was created to celebrate a local individual who has generously given their time to support the Seward School Center and the Seward Park District.
Barbara owns the Honeycomb Salon in the Seward School Center. She has been a Seward resident for 15 years and has been involved with the Seward School Center and Seward Park District for five years. She was instrumental in helping to form the Seward Park District in November of 2013 and goes above and beyond on a daily basis to ensure the Park District runs as smoothly as possible. She plants flowers outside the school during the springtime and shovels snow during the wintertime. She decorates the school for every holiday and donates her time and money during the Seward Park District’s annual 3K Run. Additionally, Barbara helps the Park District with its daily rentals, unlocking doors and locking them once the rental has finished.
“We are extremely excited to honor Barbara with our first annual Volunteer of the Year Award,” says Seward Park District Board President Katryna Kirby. “Barbara always goes the extra mile to help the Park District and she has such a great love for the community and the school that it truly shows through in her efforts.”
Barbara resides in Seward with her husband Glen. She serves on the Seward Township Board and the Friends of the Seward School Center Committee.
