Ronaldo Fort Jr.mugshot
BOONE COUNTY – Boone County State’s Attorney Michelle Courier announced that on Friday, Jan. 29, Ronaldo Fort, Jr., 20, of Rockford, was sentenced on one count of armed robbery and one count of armed violence to 33 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Fort committed the offenses on Aug. 20, 2014, when he, while carrying a firearm on his person, knowingly took property, being cellular telephones and U.S. currency, from the presence of an employee at the U.S. Cellular Store in Belvidere, by threatening the imminent use of force.
Subsequent to this offense, Ronaldo Fort fled to Winnebago County. Fort faces additional charges in Winnebago County for the events that occurred there.
As to the charges in Winnebago County, the members of the public are reminded that these are only charges and are not proof of the defendant’s guilt.
Every defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the State’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
