BELVIDERE – Ten lanes, 10 pins, 10 frames and one ball are all kids need at Concordia Lanes in Belvidere to compete to see who finishes on top as the highest scoring bowler in the Concordia Lanes Junior League divisions.
On Saturday, Jan. 30 local youth spared no effort when it came to striking up high scores to earn one of the top spots.
With the bowlers being regulars from September through the present, the kids have had a lot of practice, gained some experience, and have definitely improved as the junior bowling league season has commenced. With so much enthusiasm and dedication from the youth bowlers, it is not surprising to see familiar names on the high scorers list each week. This week is no exception to the tradition that has been set so far this season.
For instance, in the youngest bowling division, the Cookies and Milk league, Cora Jones has topped the list numerous times. On Jan. 30, she continued scoring high by landing a 63 game.
In the next category, the Bantams league, familiar names filled the high scorers’ sheet again with Mason Kahl landing an 83 game with a 140 series. For the girls, Andrea Robles had a 74 game with a 143 series.
In the Preps division, Parker Morris hit the list again with a high score of 153 with a 387 series. For the girls, Mollie Jones joined the high scorers’ list with her high game of 118 with a 278 series.
In the final division, the Junior/Majors, Joe Gallagher had an impressive 246 game with a whopping 625 series. Jessica VanFleet made another high scorers’ list with her high game of 193 with a 480 series, topping the other girls in her division.
These stats concluded the junior bowling league on Saturday, Jan. 30. However, luckily for the area youth, Concordia Lanes dedicates their 10 lanes to junior bowlers, not once a week, but twice a week.
On Monday, Feb. 1, the local youth were able to bowl again with many familiar bowlers making the high score list again.
In the Cookies and Milk league, Noel Capadanno has come a long way and has improved to break 100 with her high score of 102.
In the Bantams division, Brooklynn Wilkinson made the top list again with an 84 game and a 161 series, while Draivin Wright, a regular for the high bowlers, scored big for the boys with n 83 game and a 149 series.
In the Preps category, Preston Potter made the list again with a high score of 113 and a series of 324. For the girls, Adriana Wright hit the list with an 83 game and a 226 series.
In the Junior/Majors, Morgan and Trevor Dawley continue to top the high scorers list with Morgan scoring a 162 game and a 452 series and Trevor scoring a 189 game and a 512 series.
