BELVIDERE – After a mildly competitive 11-11 first quarter, Belvidere took an effortless 21-12 lead at intermission, extended the lead 33-18 at the end of third behind senior Deante Barnes’ 10 of his team-leading 14 points, and emptied the bench for most of the fourth in a game not nearly as close as the final 48-30.
Finally playing a school of the same size, ninth-seeded Woodstock North never mounted a serious threat against sixth-seeded Belvidere.
Completing the scoring for the Bucs were juniors Nate Horton (10), Austin Brockmann (eight), Austin Revolinski (seven), Will Morris (six), Joey Hernandez (two), and sophomore Shawn Dean (one).
Competition stiffens in the second round as the Bucs face second-seeded Marengo with their experienced, highly skilled, determined, and confident roster featuring nine seniors.
