ROCKFORD – From March 30 through April 2, the Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity (RAHFH) will be hosting a Grand Re-Opening event at its renovated ReStore, located in NorthTowne Mall at 986 W. Riverside Blvd. Each day will feature special discounts, giveaways, and events. On Saturday, April 2, the last day of the re-opening, former NFL player and Byron native Sean Considine will make an appearance. Considine will be available to take and sign photographs to the public. The event is free and volunteers at the ReStore will provide food and refreshments, while supplies last. Shoppers at the ReStore during the Grand Re-Opening week can enter to win a Toro 22” Personal Pace Lawnmower.

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a donation and shopping center for used and new construction materials, hardware, furniture, and appliances. Items donated to the ReStore are sold at discounted rates to fundraise for Habitat for Humanity while keeping usable building materials out of local landfills. All ReStore proceeds go to support RAHFH’s construction of safe, affordable, owner-occupied homes in the Rockford area. The ReStore is open Wednesday through Friday from 10:00am-6:00pm and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

“Each year the ReStore helps Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity build an additional home for a family in need,” says Keri Nelson, the Executive Director at Habitat for Humanity. “Without our donors and the customers who support us, we’d never be able to help make homeownership a reality for many families.  Giving the ReStore a little facelift was just what the place needed to show how proud we are of the impact it’s made on this community.  Every purchase made gets us one step closer to making that dream come true for a deserving family,” says Nelson on the critical role of the ReStore.
Shopping, donating, and volunteering are all ways to support the store that builds hope. The ReStore accepts items donated by individuals and businesses and offers free donation pick-up services.
