Immanuel Lutheran Church North will hold its fourth annual rummage sale at 13535 Route 76 (Countryside Mall) in Poplar Grove.  The event will occur from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Proceeds from the rummage sale will go to benefit neighborhood charities.

Detective Leon Berry will retire from the Belvidere Police Department. Detective Berry has served the citizens of Belvidere for over 31 years. He was hired as a patrol officer on June 29, 1984. In addition to his patrol duties, during his career he has served as: detective for 22 years, Belvidere/Boone County Metro Narcotics Unit, Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) member, Gang Intervention Unit (GIU) Officer, Field Training Officer, SLANT (State Line Area Narcotics Team) member, and DIC (Department of Criminal Investigations). Cake and coffee will be served in the lower level of the Public Safety Building, located at 615 N. Main St. in Belvidere from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and is open to the public.

Boone County RAMP will host the 11th annual Wheel-A-Thon/5K Run/3KWalk/Kids Fun Run at Dot Park Pavilion in Belvidere at 8:30 a.m.

 

The Belvidere High School girls’ junior varsity softball team will compete in the Belvidere Junior Varsity Softball Tournament at 9 a.m. at Belvidere High School.

Prairie Place Neighborhood, on the corner of Landmark and Newburg Roads, will host a Flag Pole Raising in the Memorial Lot as a dedication to the veterans who have served this country.  Members of the VFW, the American Legion, and the Prairie Place Neighborhood will be in attendance for the event.  The Flag Raising will occur at 10:30 a.m.

 

St. James Catholic School will host its fourth annual plant sale at the school parking lot adjacent to the school, at 320 Logan Ave.  The plant sale will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  The sale includes a wide variety of plants including exclusive St. James School color hanging baskets, mixed hanging baskets and potted annuals.  They will accept cash, check, and credit/debit cards.
