Heritage Days will begin with Doty Park’s Splash Pad. The water playground will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

 

Heritage Days will also feature the Best Burger Contest at the Boone County Fairgrounds. The competition will begin at 5 p.m. with contestants checking in. Presentation will start at 7 p.m. to the judges and winners will be announced around 8 p.m. Backyard grillers only have to pay the $20 entry fee and create a burger master piece for the competition. The winner will be awarded $250, a trophy, and their burger recipe on the menu of Bush Gardens Bar and Grill in Belvidere for an entire year.  For more information, go to ci.belvidere.il.us or call (815) 544-2612.

The Boone County Historical Museum will host a Murder Mystery Dinner put on by the Main Street Players in honor of Heritage Days. The dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. For more information, call the Boone County Historical Museum at (815) 544-2580.

 

Go-Kart racers will have time to practice for race day from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in downtown Belvidere in honor of Heritage Days.

 

From 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., the Zac Matthew’s Band will perform for Heritage Days at the Boone County Fairgrounds.

 

Saturday, June 25

Spring Creek UCC, located at 4500 Spring Creek Road in Rockford will host a free concert at 7 p.m. featuring Lone Canary, an original folk and Americana styling by Jesse Fox and Heather Camacho. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the event.

 

Heritage Days will begin its second day of activities with go-kart racing in the PNC Parking Lot in downtown Belvidere from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Heritage Days will also feature athletics with the Grit Fit 5K Challenge at Spencer Park, located at 899 N. Appleton Road from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

Heritage Days will also have kid fun at the Dari Ripple in downtown Belvidere from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. They will have pony rides for $5 and wax hand molds.

 

The Splash Pad will be open again for Heritage Days in Doty Park from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The second annual Paint on State will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in honor of Heritage Days. The cost is $5.

 

Heritage Days will have a Craft Vendors at Hub Plaza from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

Wooden It Be Nice will host a Vintage Flea market from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for Heritage Days.

 

Duck Derby will return for Heritage Days at 4 p.m. on the Kishwaukee River.

 

Get ready for some wet fun with Water Fights in downtown Belvidere from noon to 12:30 p.m.

 

Mural Painting will take place in Downtown Belvidere from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Heritage Days. Come take part in helping Belvidere create a new mural for the City of Murals.

Take your kids to the Street Dance and Light Show in Downtown Belvidere from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in front of the Boone County Historical Museum.

 

The Belvidere YMCA will host free activities from noon to 3 p.m. for Heritage Days. The activities include Bean Bag Bozo Ball Toss, Bucket Ball, Kerplunk, Bean Bag Tic Tac Toe, Pool Noodle Toss Game, and Giant Connect 4.

 

The Boone County Fairgrounds will also host a Kids Carnival from noon to 5 p.m. for Heritage Days. There will be games, rides, and a bouncy house at the carnival.

 

Flaming Monkeys Robotics Club will give a performance in downtown Belvidere from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Heritage Days.

There will be a Kansas City BBQ competition that will take place at the Boone County Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Heritage Days.

 

SmokinGunz band will perform at the fairgrounds from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Heritage Days celebration.

 

Recently Paroled band will perform from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the Heritage Days celebration.

 

The Winnebago-Boone Farm Bureau Tractor Pull will commence at the Boone County Fairgrounds from 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. to coincide with the Heritage Days events. Please use the McKinley Ave. in entrance. The pull begins at 6:30 p.m. Advance ticket sales are available at the Farm Bureau office and the following Alpine Bank locations: Belvidere, North State, Gateway Center, and East State Street at $10 per person or Gate Admission is $12 per person (children 10 and under are free). The Pull will feature five classes (maybe subject to change): Super Farm, 640 Pro Farm, Pro Stock Diesel Trucks, Light Limited Super Stock and 4.1 Limited Pro from the Badger State Tractor Pullers and end with an open amateur Stock Diesel Truck Class.  Registration will begin at 3 p.m. For more information, please visit belviderecharitypull.com or call Ed Kasper at (309) 208-0117.

Diamond Classics Baseball Tournament will occur all day at the Boone County Fairgrounds for Heritage Days.

 

The Scottish Heavy Athletics will compete in Highland-style tournament games at the Boone County Fairgrounds at 10 a.m. in their debut in the Heritage Days activities.

 

Outside of Belvidere, Boone Lake Campground off of Dawson Lake Road in Poplar Grove will hold a Craft and Vendor Fair from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be over 30 different vendors and crafters at the public event.

 

St. John’s United Church of Christ, located at 401 N. Main St. in Belvidere will host an Ice Cream Social from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

 

Alpaca Pines, located at 21756 Beaverton Road in Poplar Grove will hold a grand opening of their fiber mill at 11 a.m.

Sunday, June 26

The Boone County Arts Council will host another Concert in the Park at the Baltic Mill Stage in Belvidere Park. Dale Rhode and the Crossroads Band will perform at 6:30 p.m.  They will perform country music. This event is sponsored by SwedishAmerican Medical Center-Belvidere. If the concert is rained out, the concert will move to the Community Building Complex at 111 W. First St. in Belvidere. For more information, call (815) 544-6242.

 

Blaine United Methodist Church will host Blaine Festival at 7200 Blaine Road in Poplar Grove. The church is located 20 miles northeast of Rockford off of Route 76, east off of Blaine Road. The event will feature country gospel music worship service at 9:30 a.m. Admission is free all day if you attend the morning service or if you are a performer or if you are a child 12-years-old or younger. The festival will feature “The Good News Band” of Roscoe UMC from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost to get in is $5 for adults. The event will also have line dancing, arts and crafts, home-cooked food sold all day, and door prizes every hour.

 

Heritage Days will end with a bang starting with the Heritage days Patriotic Worship Service at 10 a.m. in the Community Building.

Wooden It Be Nice will continue their Heritage Days Vintage Flea market from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

The Heritage Days Mural Painting will take place in Downtown Belvidere from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 

Dari Ripple staff will move their Heritage Days events from downtown to the Boone County Fairgrounds from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

 

Doty Park’s Splash Pad will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for Heritage Days water playground fun.

 

The Heritage Days Bed Races are back from noon to 3 p.m. in downtown Belvidere.
