A number of resolutions approved by Loves Park
Loves Park City Council members were busy at the Aug. 19 council meeting

–Resolutions that were passed included:
*A resolution authorizing the mayor to hire Ashley Hauser for the vacant position of police officer effective Aug. 20.
*A resolution authorizing the police chief to hire Marisa Anderson, Brandon Erdman, and Artis Taylor, to the position of police officers to fill vacant positions effective August 20.
*A resolution authorizing a land transfer between the City of Loves Park and the Rockford Park District Foundation and notes “The Rockford Park District Foundation is willing to transfer ownership of said lands to the City of Loves Park; and accepts transfer of 9.97 acres located at 4800 Sonny Dr.”
*A resolution authorizing the street department manager to hire Norwest Construction for 2024 drainage and access improvements at a cost not to exceed $152,811.01.
*A resolution authorizing the water department manager “to modify the elevated storage tank No. 4 engineering agreement with Fehr Graham & Associates, at a cost not to exceed $28,100 (due to scope change.)”
*A resolution authorizing the water department manager to amend the contract price accepted by Resolution 24-034 to Cecchin Plumbing for the Interstate Blvd. “Water Main Extension Project” at a cost not to exceed $180,777.
–Ordinances approved:
*An ordinance was okayed amending Section 6-39 of the Loves Park Code of Ordinances regarding “Persons Ineligible for License.”
Noted in the updated ordinance is “No license referenced in this chapter shall be issued to any person who would not be eligible to receive a license pursuant to the provisions of 235 ILCS 5/6-2, as the same may be amended from time-to-time.”
*An ordinance establishing no parking and one-hour parking on portions of Hangar Road in the City of Loves Park was passed. Details in the ordinance note: “A no parking zone and a one-hour parking zone be established…no parking shall be established on the south side of all of Hangar Road from McFarland Road to Galleria Dr., one-hour parking shall be established on the north side of all of Hangar Road from McFarland Road to Galleria Dr., the no parking/one-hour parking areas identified above have been determined to be necessary for the public safety and well-being of the residents and motorists of the City of Loves Park, Illinois.”
Additionally, “The appropriate no parking/one-hour parking signs shall be erected to reflect the ordinance.”
The police bi-monthly activity report for July 7 through August 3 noted 960 calls for service were received, 29 arrests were made, 219 tickets and warnings were issued, and 22 vehicle crashes were responded to by officers.
Per the fire department bi-monthly report for August 1 through 15, 127 Emergency Medical Reponses, 11 service calls, three fire calls, and 25 “all other type calls” received by the department.
Between July 29 and August 12, street department workers finished painting crosswalks, finished sidewalk repairs in Alpine Valley, miscellaneous shop work and city vehicle repairs made, trees were trimmed on Walker Ave. between Clifford and Northfield Ave., and catch basin repairs on Forest Hills Road were done. Catch basin repairs along Forest Hills Road and in multiple areas were scheduled for the following week’s work, along with ditch mowing and completion of tree trimming along Nimtz Road.
Between July 30 and Aug. 12, the water department (besides other duties) repaired a water service leak in the 5900 block of Jensen Dr., repaired a water main break at Saddle St. and Equestrian Circle, repaired water service in the 300 block of Belteberg Road, and a water main break at the intersection of Windsor Road and Preservation Poking.
