All Fall to Charging HononegahIndians Baseball Team

ROCKTON – The Hononegah Indians boys’ baseball team decided just how much they would be willing to put up with, during the past week of head-to-head showdowns, within the NIC-10.
In a Monday, April 11 battle with the Belvidere Bucs, Hononegahgave up one hit and no runs, in the11-0 win.Two days later, the Vikings would fall, 7-0.
In the shut-out loss to Hononegah, Guilford would manufacture three hits.
In the match with Belvidere, the Indians would pound out 15 hits, even though they would not score until the third.
HonoNengah was in front, 2-0, after three, when they added three more runs in the fourth.With two innings to play, the Indians had a 5-0 lead.
A quiet fifth was flipped in the sixth, as the Indians plated six.There would be no seventh.
Hononegah took the game, 11-0, and prepared for a clash with the Vikings.
Larson was credited with the one-hit, complete game, shut-out.He struck out 12, in the win.
Hamilton was 3-3 from the plate and scored three runs for Hononegah.Damon, Henderson and Hart were credited with two hits each.Massino and Larson batted 2-3 in the game.
With the win over Belvidere, the Indians moved to 2-0 in the NIC-10. On Wednesday, April 13, the Guilford Vikings visited Rockton, as the conference swing continued.
The Indians jumped ahead quickly, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first.
Guilford struggled to make contact. They would manage just three hits in the game.
In the third inning, Hononegah padded their lead, as they scored once.
After plating a run in the bottom of the fifth, the Indians had the 6-0 lead.
Hononegah would add another run in the bottom of the sixth, as they cruised to the 7-0 win.
Thornbloom etched his name in the season scorebook, as he was credited with a three-hit, complete game shut-out.
Henderson, Damon, Larson and Hamilton were all credited with 2-for-3 days.
Blunt batted at a 50 percent clip.
In non-conference action, on Saturday, April 16, the Hononegah Indians held off a late push by Fox Lake-Grant, and held on for a 5-3 win.
Grant collected nine hits, and battled back against Hononegah, after the Indians had built a 5-0 edge into the fifth inning.
In the bottom of the sixth Grant scored three times.
Sipeshut-down the challenge, in the bottom of the seventh, as Hononegah captured the two-run decision.
Larson was 2-3 in the win and added to his statistical week, as he cleared the bases and drove in four runs.
Grant outhitHononegah, as they connected nine times.
The Indians defense responded to the latest challenge.
Hononegah had a scheduled match with Freeport, on Monday, April 18.
On Friday, April 22, the Indians travel to Belvidere North High School.
Harlem appears on the schedule, Monday, April 25.
The Huskies will play at Hononegah, as both teams attempt to keep pace with the league leaders.
With a handful of games left for Honongah, during the final days of the 2016 spring season, a May 20 showdown with Belvidere North, opens the gates for the post-season to commence.
