BELVIDERE – On Thursday from 10 a.m. until noon, kids and adults brought their competitive spirits to the final day of Alpine Banks Kids days.
The days events included potato sack races, balloon blowing, bubble gum blowing, egg toss and a watermelon eating contest.
Each competition was divided into age groups four to eight years and nine to 13 years.
The bubble gum blowing contest and egg toss included teens and adults 14 and up. First prize in each category was $3 and a trophy, second prize was $2 and third was $1.
All participating children who stayed until the end received a blue ribbon and an Alpine Bank bag.
Alpine Banks incredible volunteers did an outstanding job of keeping the days events fun and organized for all who participated. To show the kids how it’s done, they kicked off the day’s games by competing in a sack race against each other.
Throughout the morning, the kids squared off in groups, and the top placing children from each would compete for the first, second and third place prizes.
The watermelon eating contest and the egg toss were by far the most exciting events to watch, and they seemed to be the favorites among the participants as well.
