Armed robberies continue through Stateline area
STATELINE – On Sunday, Sept. 27, shortly before 8:30 p.m. Patrol Officers from the Rockford Police Dept. responded to the parking lot of Wal-Mart, 3902 W. Riverside Blvd., in reference to a vehicular hijacking.
The female victim had been approached by two black male suspects who threatened her at gunpoint. The suspects then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle, a Light Blue or Silver 2001 Volkswagen Passat, four-door with Illinois license plate #K963109.
That same night at about 10:10 p.m. two black male suspects driving a Volkswagen Passat attempted to rob another female victim in the 3700 block of E. State St. The suspects fled without obtaining anything of value from the victim. The same suspects from the W. Riverside Blvd. Wal-Mart incident are believed to be involved.
On Monday, Sept. 28, shortly after 4 p.m. two black male suspects of a similar description driving a Light Blue or Silver four-door vehicle, similar to the description of the stolen Volkswagen Passat, robbed three citizens in the parking lot of Cherry Vale Mall.
The same afternoon at about 4:30 p.m. two black male suspects driving the same stolen Light Blue Volkswagen Passat attempted to rob a female victim in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart at 7219 Walton St. The suspects fled without obtaining any property from the victim.
Detectives from the Rockford Police Dept. and the Cherry Valley Police Dept. are conducting follow up investigations into these incidents. At this time the stolen Office of Mayor Lawrence J. Morrissey LEADING BOLDLY, WORKING TOGETHER Volkswagen Passat has not been recovered.
