ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — The Augustana women’s soccer team opened the 2015 season, playing three matches in seven days. The Vikings won their season opener 2-1 in double overtime at Wisconsin-La Crosse on Tuesday, Sept. 1 and defeated 11th-ranked University of Chicago 2-0 on Saturday, Sept. 5.

On Labor Day, Coach Scott Mejia’s side suffered its first loss, a 3-2, double-overtime setback at Loras.

Senior Kelly Farell, of St. Ursula Academy, Sylvania, Ohio, scored three goals and dished out one assist through three matches to lead the Vikings in scoring. She now has 33 goals and 25 assists for her career, ranking tied for fifth (with Katie Oakes) and third, respectively, in school history. Her 91 career points are fifth all-time at Augustana.

Freshman Andria Serra, of Alleman High School in Silvis, Ill., has four points on a goal and a team-high two assists.

Junior Hannah Lohmeier of Waunakee High School in Waunakee, Wis., and sophomore Grace Iaquinta, of Lincoln East High School in Lincoln, Ill., have each found the back of the net once and senior Somer Druszkowski, of Lincoln-Way Central High School in Manhattan, Ill., and junior Brianne Frys, of Fremd High School in Palatine, Ill., have one assist apiece.

Defensively, Lohmeier, senior Stephanie Hamaker, of Boylan High School and from Caledonia, Ill., and sophomore Sammi Farkos, of Homewood Flossmoor High School in Flossmoor, Ill., have led the way.

Senior keeper Meredith Chew, of Paradise Valley High School in Phoenix, Ariz., is 2-1 in goal with a 1.22 goals against average and a save percentage of .826.
