Boone County Fair Talent Contests

	The talented Yates siblings earned the top prize in the Junior Talent Contest.

The Boone County Fair follows the State Talent Show rules, although Messiner likes to allow a little leeway if needed to get the best performance from a contestant.

 
 

Alpaca show packed with fun and misbehavior

	During the second year of alpacas showing in Boone County (and the State of Illinois), Emily Johnson handling Jelly the alpaca won the Grand Prize.

Alpaca are great for 4-H kids. The kids can have them around all their lives so they can keep training the alpaca and do things with them. They are the easiest animals to take care of that I have ever had.

 
 

Scavenger Hunt at the Boone County Fair

Visitors were invited to “Come on an ‘AG’venture” to “make the Farm-to-You connection on your scavenger hunt through the fair.

Belvidere Moose Lodge member awarded Pilgrim Degree of Merit

	Bob Hammortree was conferred the rank of Pilgrim, which is the highest rank given by the Moose Lodge. Here he sits next to his supportive wife of nearly 60 years.

“What a great journey this has been,” Hammortree said. “I started my Moose service to have a good time with friends. Over time, I have met many good Moose members who have also become friends.”

Miss Boone County 2018 is declared

Marjorie Culvey was born in Belvidere. In her youth Marjorie loved to roller skate. In the late 1930’s she had sung, and played piano on a radio station in Champaign, Ill. Over the years she volunteered in church and worked with youth groups.
