Bee Youtiful Sip and Stitchery opens in Roscoe
On May 11, Bee Youtiful Sip and Stitchery’s new shop, which focuses on cross stitch, held their grand opening. They are located at 11447 2nd St., Suite 5, in Roscoe.
As people enter the shop, there is a wall of framed pieces that were stitched by owner Brett Casanova-Rini’s grandmother Alma Hockman – the inspiration of the shop. Hockman passed on her love of stitching to her granddaughter, who is excited to now share it with others in the local area.
Bee Youtiful features a stitching room, which also doubles as classroom space. There are open stitching times each week and tea is complementary to those who attend. Casanova-Rini’s memories of her grandmother stitching always included a cup of tea by her side, so this is where the idea of sipping and stitching originates from. Anyone is welcome to attend open stitching to share in their mutual love of cross stitch or embroidery and to help build a local community of stitchers and friends.
The grand opening drew people from all over locally, the Chicagoland area, and southern Wisconsin as well. Everyone at the shop was excited to see the continued and renewed interest of so many people for this new shop and gathering place.
The event featured food for guests to try from the Nashville Needlework Market cookbook which includes recipes from needlework designers and shop owners from around the country. Cupcakes for the celebration were from Fatt Cat Café in Rockton. There were also several “trunk shows” of items available for a limited time. Patrons also had an opportunity to enter a free raffle for one of several prize baskets.
One of Casanova-Rini’s goals is to have a comfortable and welcoming space so that anyone and everyone can have a great shopping experience. Someone is always available to help pick out a kit, a pattern, floss and fabric so that customers can make their projects their own unique creation. The shop also features a variety of kits for cross stitch and free form embroidery for the beginner or experienced stitcher alike.
Classes are already scheduled and more will be planned in the future to include beginners and to help expand techniques for experienced stitchers.
Whether looking for a new hobby, a new project, or a community to stitch with, everyone will enjoy their time at Bee Youtiful Sip and Stitchery.
