BELVIDERE – The Belvidere High School boys’ soccer team faced off against Rochelle Township on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at home at Funderburg Stadium. The game ended with a tie game of 1-1.

Belvidere High School scored the first goal of the game in the second period. Rudy Ponce made the goal with an assist from Dani Ponce.

Rochelle came back with their own score to tie up the game.

Unfortunately, neither team could break the tie, although both teams tried. Belvidere made 14 attempts at the goal, but Rochelle’s township wouldn’t let another score pass through their goal.

Belvidere’s defense worked hard to limit Rochelle to only two goal attempts and Belvidere goalie, Edgar Gomez, saved the ball from going in the goal both times, only letting the one previous goal into the net.

In the end, both teams tied 1-1.
