Belvidere faces loss at Marengo Ridge Golf Course

MARENGO – The Belvidere High School boys’ golf team faced another loss at the Marengo Ridge Golf Course Tournament on Tuesday, Sept. 29. The Belvidere Bucs faced Marengo High School and Rockford Christian in Marengo. Marengo won the tournament with 165 points, followed by Rockford Christian in second with 183 points and Belvidere in third with 206 points.
Marengo won due to the low scores from Marengo’s top four players. Ryan Cook and Jesse Steineke tied for the lowest scores in the match with 40 points. Connor Wascher of Marengo came in third with 42 points and Austin Keefer came in fourth on the Marengo team with 43 points.
Rockford Christian also exemplified noteworthy performances from their players who all scored in the 40s. The top four Humpal, Sweeringen, Gomez, and Wittmus all scored in the low to mid 40s with Humpal scoring a 44, followed by Sweeringen with a 45, and Wittmus and Gomez with 47s.
In last place were the Belvidere Bucs who went home with a defeat, but still had impressive performances from all of their players.
Larry Larson scored the lowest on the BHS team with a total of 46 points followed by Brandon Bishoff with 49 points, Dylan Boardman with 52 points, and Ryan Snyder with 59 points.
Garrett Keeney and Jesse Thies also did well on the Belvidere team with scores of 61 and 67.
