MARENGO – The Belvidere girls’ varsity golf co-op team, composed of both Belvidere and Belvidere North athletes, faced Marengo High School in a tournament set at Marengo Ridge Golf Club on Tuesday, Sept. 29. Belvidere won 209 to 263.

The Belvidere team took home the victory with impressive performances from their top four players. Maddie Strum had the lowest score with a 43, followed by Josie Rieches with a 54 and Brenna Rieches and Morgan McNulty with 56s.

Following not too far behind were Sara Redig with a 57 and Christine Chustak with a 64. The four lowest scoring athletes made up the Belvidere team score of 209.

“That closes our match record at 9-4 for the regular season,” Dan Koenings, Head Girl’s Golf Coach for the Belvidere Co-op team, said.

Not only did Belvidere go home with a victory, but Maddie Strum went home with a double victory because she had the lowest score out of both teams with a 43 making her the match medalist.

Although Marengo did not come close to taking the victory away from the Belvidere co-op, they still managed to dig out some good scores.

Alyssa Pfoft had the lowest score for the Marengo team with a 60, followed by Paige Schulze with a 65, Madyson Peters with a 69, and Jess Ruelius with a 69.
