On Wednesday, Aug. 17, the Belvidere girls’ co-op golf team competed against Hampshire High School at Randall Oaks Golf Club, located at 4101 Binnie Road in West Dundee. Par was set at 36.

The Belvidere girls won the match with a team score of 190 over Hampshire’s team score of 246. The four highest scores from each team accounted for the total team score, even though both teams had six athletes on the teams.

For the Belvidere co-op team, the top four finishers were Maddie Sturm, Sara Redig, Morgan McNulty, and Christine Chustak.

Maddie Strum had the lowest score out of all competitors. Therefore, she won the medal for the match. She had a total score of 42 points.

Sara Redig came in second for the Belvidere girls with 45 points, followed by Morgan McNulty with 49 points, and Christine Chustak with 54 points.

Other Belvidere players who gave it their best effort included Natalie Altintop with 55 and Gracie Thies with 56 points.

Unfortunately for Hampshire, they just couldn’t compete with the Belvidere girls. Hampshire High School’s lowest scoring athlete was only two points lower than Belvidere’s highest scoring athlete.

Hampshire’s top golfer was Sydney Maracucilli with 54 points. Following her in score was Delaney Maracucilli with 61 points, Gianna Ferinelli with 62 points, and Jade Swanson and Aly Johnson tying for fourth place on the team with 69 points each.

The other athlete competing for Hampshire was Grace Fuller who finished the day with 71 points.

The top four scores accounted for Hampshire’s final team score of 246 points, making it a runaway victory for the Belvidere girls.
