FREEPORT – The Belvidere girls’ golf co-op team, comprised of both Belvidere High School and Belvidere North High School players, faced off against Freeport on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at Park Hills Golf Course in Freeport.  Belvidere won 213-238.

The Belvidere girls’ varsity team did well in the match with all of the players scoring within six points of each other.

The leader of the Belvidere team, Maddie Strum, scored the lowest out of the other varsity players on her team with a 50. Brenna Rieches came in second with a 53 and Sara Redig, Josie Rieches, and Gracie Theis all tied for third and fourth on their team with scores of 55.

Teammate Morgan McNulty was only one point off with a 56, to make the top four.

On the Freeport team, Max Wesemeier gave the Belvidere girls a real challenge when she ended with a 43 making her the standout as the match medalist.

Following behind her on the Freeport team to makeup the four lowest totaling scores for the team were Farrah Sands with a 60, Ashtyn Parkos with a 65, and Montanna Stewart with a 70. The four totaled a 238.

Belvidere won by 25 points.
