Belvidere girls’ soccer team defeats East
BELVIDERE – The Belvidere High School girls’ soccer team faced off against Rockford East High school in a game set at BHS on Monday, April 4.
In a shutout performance, the Belvidere Lady Bucs varsity team defeated the E-Rabs 5-0.
In the first period, Belvidere came out strong with Coral Nava, #8, scoring the first goal of the game, six minutes into the game. She was aided by teammate Erys Rivera, #2, for the goal.
Making the second goal of the game was BHS player Elizabeth Resendiz, #15, who scored in the first period with help from teammate Vanessa Rivera, #7.
The last goal of the first period came from Giselle Lopez, #9, who was also assisted by Rivera.
BHS continued to their scoring streak in the second period with Lucia Hernandez, #12, scoring off an assist from teammate Jessie Rivera, #10.
The final goal of the game came from Erys Rivera with an assist from Yo-Yo Gardner, #17.
BHS conquered with goals and was able to keep possession of the ball for most of the game. Although the Lady Bucs only scored five goals, the girls’ tried 44 shots, whereas East only had the chance to make three attempts for a goal.
Plus, goalie, Maria Aguilar, #1, was able to deter the E-Rabs from scoring by saving three goals, which ended an overall perfect night for the Belvidere girls’ soccer team.
