Belvidere Lady Bucs fall short of victory
BELVIDERE – The Belvidere Lady Bucs volleyball team fell short of victory when they faced off against East High School on Thursday, Oct. 15.
Belvidere lost both sets, but managed to get fairly close to the winners. In the first set, Belvidere only lost by three points with a final round score of 22-25. In the second set, Belvidere lost by six points in a final tally of 19-25.
Even with the disappointing loss, Belvidere’s team still had great performances from their top players. Julia O’Malley had eight kills and 9 digs. Becky Barall had 20 assists. Taylor Garvey had 17 kills.
In the end, their impressive performances weren’t enough to catch East, since the East players also had great teamwork as well.
East High School’s Lexie Lurstust and Courtney Turnbeck both had nine kills. Sam Turnbeck had 21 assists and Ashley Kopplin had 15 digs.
