Belvidere man arrested for narcotic possession in Boone County Jail
BOONE COUNTY – On Monday, April 4, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office arrested a subject for smuggling narcotics into the Boone County Jail.
Luiz Robles, 29 of Belvidere, was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of contraband in a penal institute (Class One Felony) and two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance (Hydrocodone – Class One Felony). Robles remains in the Boone County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
On Friday, April 1, Boone County Corrections personnel recovered a suspected controlled substance from Robles during a routine search.
On Sunday, April 3, Corrections personnel recovered additional suspected controlled substance from Robles’ property. Robles was serving a six month work release sentence on a traffic offense. Robles has since been removed from the program.
The arrest of Robles concludes an investigation by Boone County Sheriff’s Corrections Officers and Boone County Deputies.
A Class One felony is punishable by four to 15 years in the Department of Corrections.
