Belvidere man sentenced on drug charges
BOONE COUNTY – Boone County State’s Attorney Michelle Courier announced on Thursday, May 12 that Octavio Arellano-Lopez, 33, of Belvidere, was sentenced to serve nine years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on the charge of Unlawful Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance.
On about Nov. 20, 2014, Arellano-Lopez possessed approximately 30 grams of a substance containing cocaine in a kitchen drawer in his residence in the 1600 Block of W. Chrysler Drive in Belvidere.
The cocaine was individually wrapped for sale, and Arellano-Lopez admitted he intended to sell the cocaine.
