On Tuesday, Sept. 6, the Belvidere North High School boys’ golf team secured another win for the season by defeating Woodstock High School at a home game set at Timber Pointe Golf Course in Poplar Grove. Blue Thunder won by a close margin of 163-178.

The top four athletes on the Belvidere North team who secured the win included: Jacob Dykstra, Brenton Payne, Adam Veruchi, and Bennett Baker.

Dykstra had a great game and took home the lowest score out of both teams. It was a nice slide into first place for Dykstra who has danced around the top four spot for most of the season. He finished the match with an overall low score of 38.

In the second slot was Payne with a solid 40.

In third place was Veruchi who scored a 41. Veruchi too had a good game to make a comeback for the season. He, along with Dykstra, has spent a good amount of the season just outside the bracket of the top four athletes on the Belvidere North team.

Finishing out the top four was Baker with 44 points.

Garrett Nelson and JD Kirane were just outside the top four with Nelson scoring a 46 and Kirane scoring a 47.

On the opposing side of the course was Woodstock High School, whose top finishers weren’t far off Belvidere North’s lead.

Bridges finished with a 42, Pietrzak with a 44, Miranda with a 46, and Obenchain with a 47.

The consistent scores in the 40s weren’t enough to catch the champion Blue Thunder team.
