Belvidere Police Department make arrest
On Friday, Dec. 30, the Belvidere patrol officers, Belvidere Detective Section, assisted by the Boone County State’s Attorney’s Office arrested and charged one person for firing a shotgun at a vehicle containing multiple occupants.
Tyler D. Gucciardo, 18, of Belvidere, was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm (class one felony), defacing identification marks on a firearm (class two felony), and two counts of possession of firearm without requisite Firearm Owner’s Identification card (class A misdemeanor).
On Friday, Dec. 30, the Belvidere Police Department responded to the 400 block of Streamwood Lane for a report of a vehicle being shot. Belvidere Patrol Officers then went to the 1600 block of Foxfield Drive to conduct a preliminary investigation.
Upon arrival, Tyler D. Gucciardo was taken into custody and transported to the Belvidere Police Department.
Belvidere Police Detectives were notified, conducted several interviews, and executed a search warrant at Gucciardo’s residence in the 1600 block of Foxfield Drive where they recovered a shotgun and shotgun ammunition.
The Boone County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the information developed throughout the investigation and authorized charges against Gucciardo.
A class one felony is punishable by four to 15 years in the Department of Corrections, A class two felony is punishable by three to seven years in the Department of Corrections, and a class A misdemeanor is punishable by up to one year in a Correctional Facility.
