The Byron Forrest Preserve District’s Summer Adventure Club Camp organized a lemonade stand on July 10. The preschoolers at the camp helped squeeze the lemons for their special unicorn lemonade (topped with cotton candy and sprinkles) as well as hand out cookies and collect money from patrons. The Adventure Club kids also collected non-perishable foods from bins at several locations. All their efforts go to donations to the Byron Schools Food Pantry.

The Byron Forrest Preserve District’s Summer Adventure Club Camp organized a lemonade stand and held a food drive for the Byron Schools Food Pantry.

The lemonade stand was on July 10 and the preschoolers were involved by squeezing the lemons and handing out cookies to collect money to donate. The Adventure Club kids had so much fun serving their special unicorn lemonade topped with cotton candy and – of course – sprinkles to their beloved customers.

The Adventure Club kids also collected non-perishable food items in bins located at the Keller Education Center and Prairie View Golf Course. Both bins are still available at those locations if anyone would still like to make a donation.

The Byron Schools Food Pantry was started by Susan Freyer, Caryn Hoover and Niki Yerly in July of 2018 and they have been fortunate enough to be the recipient of so many efforts like this to help Byron School District’s families in need. The Byron Schools Food Pantry is intended for Byron students and their families who are experiencing hardships and food insecurities with 100% of all donations going to the students and their families.

If interested in making a donation, monetary donations can be mailed to: BHS Food Pantry, 696 N. Colfax St., Byron, IL 61010. Collection bins for food and hygiene supplies are located in each of the school’s offices, Keller Education Center (located near the Jarret Prairie Center), Prairie View Golf Course and several other locations throughout Byron.
