Boone County Community Foundation awards 2018 grants
The Boone County Community Foundation held their annual Belvidere Area Chamber of Commerce Grant Breakfast on Nov. 13. The
Foundation has grown to hold more than $6 million in total assets, as of October 2018. Including distributions made at the grant breakfast, the Foundation has distributed more than $1,005,543 in grants and scholarships, since 2011.
The 2018 grants are part of the Community Grant program which consists of grants from the Melvin & Mildred Banks Funds, the Wilbur & William Cummings Fund, and donor advised funds. At the breakfast, the Foundation distributed grants totaling $109,245 to 18 different non-profit organizations.

Boone County Arts Council: $2,000 – for a partial sponsorship of Fifth Grade Arts Festival
Boone County Auction Association, (NFP) Inc.: $5,000- for a Fair Dairy Barn wash rack
Boone County Council on Aging: $1,000- for monthly health care literacy sessions/breakfasts
Boone County Fair-4-H, Grange Food Complex: $6,000- for an upgrade on the 4-H Food stand and Grange
Boone County Conversation District: $65,645 – for rehab and improvement to Long Prairie Trail, including replacing three bridges and repairing a fourth
Boone County Museum of History: $5,000 – to subsidize an interactive farm exhibit for young children
City of Belvidere: $4,000- to construct a park pavilion at Christi Lane & Highline Street
Family Counseling Services: $2,000- to subsidize mental health services in Boone County
First Presbyterian Church: $3,500- for the Compassion Closet food expenses
Girls Scouts of Northern Illinois: $1,000- to subsidize Girl Scout leadership training in Boone County
Flaming Monkeys 4-H Robotic Club: $2,000- for travel and material costs for their Robotics Program
Habitat for Humanity: $2,000 – for affordable home construction for families in Boone County
Parks & Conservation Foundation: $1,500 – to continue restoration to Stone Schoolhouse
PAWS Humane Society: $500- to subsidize the cost to spay/neuter stray, feral, and farm cats
RAMP: $1,500 – to subsidize an internship program for students with disabilities
Sister Cities Association of Belvidere: $1,000 – to support youth and host family exchange program
University of Illinois-4-H: $1,100- for reaching underserved youth audiences
Winnebago-Boone County Farm Bureau: $4,500 to expand Ag Education in Boone County Schools
