The Boone County Historical Museum added a new date for their Murder Mystery Night on Thursday, June 24 at 6 p.m. Call (815) 544-8391 for show reservations; tickets cost $25 and seating is limited.
“The museum collaborated with the Main Street Players of Boone County,” Boone County Historical Museum Executive Director Anna Pivoras said. “We sold the first date out so fast that we decided to add another performance on Thursday as well.”
The evening will include a cocktail hour at a cash bar with hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction. Gift baskets come from local organizations and artists and include quilts, museum memberships, and free oil changes.
“The plot and script is specific to Belvidere and the museum, it is a one of a kind, original play where the audience will learn about Boone County history,” Pivoras said. “It is going to be a very funny comedy. It will be an entertaining evening and the actors will integrate into the audience.”
The museum has several events planned throughout the Heritage Days weekend. On Saturday, Manly Motors will host the Drive 4 UR Community fundraiser in the museum parking lot from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
“Manly Motors will have some of their most popular models here and people can take them for a spin,” Pivoras said. “They will then get a goodie-bag and Ford will donate $20 to the museum which is awesome.”
The Lion’s Club will provide food, along with a food truck that will sell egg rolls and friend rice. The parking lot will also host a craft market and entertainment from the Flaming Monkey’s Robotics Club. Later, that night there will be a street dance with a laser show and a DJ.
“There is going to be a lot of activity in our parking lot,” Pivoras said. “We are keeping pretty busy this weekend.”
On Sunday, the Boone County Historical museum will participate in the parade with a horse drawn carriage carrying Miss America 1969 Judy Ford-Nash.
“Everybody loves it when Judy comes back to town, she’s delightful and it’s so exciting that she will be riding in our float,” Pivoras said.
“I feel that Heritage Days is a great event for the community and there’s something there for everyone to enjoy. We owe a big thanks to the city of Belvidere and the mayor for making all of this happen.”
